As everyone will remember from our post in September 2017, Scottie Rescue UK is not a Charity: It does not yet meet the financial conditions laid down by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
In fact, this is a “positive”, as we have yet to establish a ‘legal structure’ that will define the type of Charity we will be: Making changes to the legal structure, after registration, is both difficult, cumbersome and time consuming matter, but in the year or years to come our depth of experience in rehoming Scotties and supporting the health and wellbeing organisations we encounter will give us much needed credence when we do eventually apply to become a charity.
We are very appreciative to everyone who has donated funds throughout 2017 and sincerely regret that we are not yet in a position to grant membership status; this can only be determined once we have settled on a legal structure as mentioned above.
Your donations to date have helped with a number of rescues and do give you the following additional benefits:
- Preview notices of items available in The Scottie Shop
- Once we are in a position to organise ‘Clan Gatherings’ you will be able to purchase tickets at reduced prices – exactly the same benefits as 2017.
Elaine and I, with our small team of volunteers, continue to help rehome Scotties that come into our care. In addition to our rehoming work, I will remain focussed on my work with the Animal Health Trust and to establishing links with other like-minded organisations.
We hope that those of you who donated in 2017, will wish to continue to support Scottie Rescue UK in 2018 and the years to come.
Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout 2017
